The DDrum D2 is a kit that will take you from your first beat to your first live show, with a cool blood red shine that will impress the crowd under concert lights. With quality hardware, tonewoods and drum heads, you will love how it sounds and feels to play from day one. You won't need to buy any other parts to get started, as everything comes in the box, with an easy to follow installation guide available that shows you step-by-step how to build the drumkit.
The DDrum D2 series drum kits feature 100 percent basswood shells. This shell-type is known for producing rich and warm tones, similar to mahogany, but at a more accessible price for beginners. The snare and bass drum are eight-ply basswood, giving them additional durability and a clear, focused tone that is ideal for these drums.
DDrum's story began in Sweden - 1983. It was then, that Hans Nordelius (founder of NORD Keyboards) created the Digital Percussion Plate 1 – the first drum pad allowing for dynamic playing using sampled sounds. Crowned an instant success by the marketplace, Ddrum’s innovative drum pads, heads and hoops quickly garnered a large and loyal following.
2005 saw the beginnings of what would become Ddrum as we know it today when it was sold to Armadillo Enterprises. One of their first decisions was to greatly expand their product line to include acoustic kits, snares, deccabons, hardware and accessories, making them a full line drum company. Long considered an innovator in electronic drums, they built on that history by being the first to use 100 percent ash shells for their acoustic kits. They led the way with deeper bass drums at a time when they were traditionally only available through custom drum makers. Their blended shells (maple inner and ash outer ply) were an industry first as was their use of alder - a wood known for producing a warm tone and punchy attack.
