'The Metal' features a thin, orthodox metal shell with a cord wound around it. It balances a relaxed, vintage tone with the brilliance provided by the metal body, delivering a sound that is at once both familiar and new. This is a snare that you can play in any setting.

Featuring Akira Jimbo and Yamaha's newly developed Resonance Control Binding, the Akira Jimbo snare gives drummers more flexibility in as they search for their own sound. The Resonance Control Binding can be tightened or opened around the snare frame to cut out excess noise or adjust sustain, and used in a range of different configurations to give complete control over the resonance of the drum.

For ultimate reliability and a stylish, gradated feel, Yamaha decided to use the same strainers found on the flagship Absolute Hybrid Maple and Live Custom kits.

The snare shell features a 1 mm ply that affords a tighter sound and feel by cutting out excess noise. The attractive exterior finishing is performed at the same factory as the flagship PHX Series, producing a drum that looks as good as it sounds.
