The Doepfer Dark Time Analog Sequencer is a desktop sequencing unit featuring analog style step sequencing combined with digital circuitry. It provides you with 16 steps in total, arranged into two rows of eight with a intuitive interface. It provides with a wide range of controls including rotary controls, a three-position on/off/skip switch as well as another three-position switch with stop/continue and jump control. The sequencer can operate in a number of configurations including 1 x 16 with two row s daisy-chained, 2 x 8 with both rows running parallel and 1-8 combination with the lower row setting the individual gate length of the upper row. The trilogy of configurations provides optimal versatility when it comes to live performances, as well as studio applications. The sequencer can be used for everything from arranging drum patterns to create complex rhythms using instruments and other external equipment.
One of the most unique features of the Dark Time Analog Sequencer is the integrated USB/MIDI interface. The Dark Time Sequencer features on-board USB and MIDI connectivity, turning the sequencer into a fully-fledged interface for use with DAWs and other digital audio equipment. The integrated USB/MIDI interface combined with the CV/Gate jacks means the Sequencer can process and route signals from virtually any source available. You can use the sequencer to arrange drum patterns, create basslines from synth patches and more.
The ergonomic layout provides quick and easy access to all on-board parameters, allowing you to make quick changes on the fly. Each step features its own dedicated pitch/gate-length knob and two-step status switches. It also boasts premium-grade potentiometers with metal shafts used for optimal durability and performance value. It will integrate with modular synth systems with ease, providing sequencing capabilities far superior to onboard sequencers. It boasts timing control via the built-in clock oscillator, as well as frequency and pulse width controls.
The compact, desktop-ready design is highly portable and perfect for both live and studio applications. The robust aluminium chassis features wooden sides for that added vintage feel and aesthetic. The vintage-style knob caps also add to the vintage aesthetic, with this version complete with red LEDs for displaying when parameters are in use. It also features a wide range of versatile connectivity, including the MIDI and USB interface. It also features an analog interface featuring CV/Gate/Clock/Star-Stop I/O in the form of 3.5mm mini jack sockets. The sequencer itself is powered via an external power supply and is lightweight for easy transportation.
