The Fender Deluxe Telecaster was introduced in 1972 to appeal to the emerging rock musicians of the decade. It featured dual "Wide Range" humbuckers (designed by former Gibson employee, Seth Lover) that provided a wide range frequency response and was perfect for rock music. The Classic Series '72 Telecaster Deluxe is a reissue of its predecessor, and it combines the '70s aesthetics and playing feel to give you a vintage guitar experience with modern playability.
The Fender Classic Series '72 Deluxe Telecaster features a solid alder body which is bright and highly resonant. It is finished in a sleek black colour and has a classy aesthetic when paired with the maple neck.
This Telecaster takes many playing specifications from the 1972 original, in order to give you the authentic playing feel of an instrument that deviated from traditional Fender specifications. The neck has a comfortable "C" profile, while the fingerboard is mounted with 22 medium jumbo frets for easy string bends and vibrato. The fingerboard has a modern 12'' radius to provide a lower action and faster playability.
The original Deluxe Telecaster introduced humbucking pickups to satisfy the demands of guitarists of the time. The Classic Series Deluxe Telecaster features similar "Wide Range" humbuckers to deliver a full frequency response which makes the most of the resonant solid body design. The pickups are wired with a 3-way switch and dual volume/tone controls for all your tone shaping requirements. This provides a versatile setup that can achieve a large range of sounds.
This guitar includes many aesthetic features from 1970s Fender guitars. A '70s-style Stratocaster headstock and oversized scratch plate provide an authentic look, along with a "Bullet" truss rod and 3-bolt neck plate. Furthermore, the string-through-body bridge and micro-tilt neck adjustment add '70s design touches that also enhance the stability and playability of the guitar. Even if the aesthetic of this Telecaster is over 40 years old, the construction and playability are completely up-to-date.
