The perfect playing experience
The DD700 has been designed with acoustic drummers in mind, providing features allowing you to play without sacrificing the nuance of your performance. The nine-piece kit is comprised of high-quality pads and cymbals, hi-hat stand and kick pedal, all of which have been carefully designed for maximum performance.
The four dual-zone drum pads consist of a 12" snare and three 10" toms. Each pad features a double-layered elastic mesh head which can be 'tuned' to match your preferred stick response, and the dual-zone piezo system allows you to play with character - opening up the option to play rim-shots and cross-stick. A common draw of electronic drum kits is the ability to keep your playing quiet, so each pad is clad with a durable rubber edge, this ensures any rim-hits are accurately and quietly captured.
The inclusion of the hi-hat stand and kick pad allow you to play your authentic way, and to adjust the pedals' tension just how you like it. Two choke-able 12" crashes and a 14" three-zone ride complete the family of cymbals on offer, all of which perform just like their acoustic counterparts. With 360 degree strike-zones, the cymbals can be hit from anywhere on their surface, meaning you don't have to think twice about where you're hitting to trigger a sound - just like an acoustic kit. The lightweight cymbals have been carefully designed to the extreme, even going as far as to provide a realistic 'wobble', reacting just like an acoustic cymbal would when hit.
Powerful drum module
Explore 52 pre-set kits on the digital drums 700, covering rock, jazz, reggae, and electronic genres. Each kit can be fully customised to your preference, with the option to change any pad to trigger another of the 948 built-in samples. This vast sample library even includes audio from genres that aren't covered by the pre-set kits, allowing you to discover your own unique sound over time.
If you do decide to change the sound of a certain pad, or indeed create an entirely new kit of your own, you can keep your customisations by simply pressing the save button. This saves your selected sounds, including any effects and volume alterations, as a user kit, making it easily accessible at any time via the main screen.
You can add a range of effects to individual pads to fully customise your pre-set or user kit. These effects include; tone, pan, decay and reverb. You can even edit the mix as a whole by editing the room size, reverb type, reverb level, reverb time, and EQ.
Shape your sound
Customising your kit doesn't end at on-board effects and samples. Each trigger can be adjusted on the module to provide the perfect sound and response. This includes the sensitivity, threshold, and dynamic range of each trigger. In addition to this, you can customise the head, rim, and cross stick sounds independently, and the dedicated hi-hat settings allow you to tweak the sensitivity of the hi-hat system. If the screen brightness and contrast isn’t for you, you can increase or reduce it in the utility settings. You can also rename any user kit to a name of your choice for easy identification.
With a single press of a button, you can access a range of extremely handy features. This includes, tempo, click, record, save, and play.
- Tempo - adjust the speed, beat, rhythm, voice, and volume of the tempo track
- Click – press to instantly add a click track to the tempo selected
- Record – begins recording your playing. Synchronized recording also allows you to record with a backing track
- Save – Save a user kit
- Play – play the selected demo kit or a previous recording
Versatile connections
The connectivity of the DD700 is expansive with USB MIDI, a 5-pin MIDI in and out, aux in, stereo headphone out, Left/Mono & Right line out and Bluetooth audio. The MIDI out allows you to connect the kit directly to a DAW for MIDI recordings, whilst the Bluetooth audio allows you to play along to your favourite songs from your smartphone or tablet. There is also space for an additional tom pad and a crash pad to expand your kit (sold separately).
Develop your drumming with the on-board tutoring mode
The tutoring mode on the DD700 includes two activities: warm and quiet.
- Warm is a warm up you can do before you begin playing. This mode guides you through playing singles, doubles, triplets, and quarter notes to a tempo track. You can adjust the speed, difficulty, and number of cycles to make the warm up as suitable as possible for you.
- Quiet is similar to the warm up, although the click track drops in and out. This is incredibly useful to practice and monitor how well you can keep time with and without a tempo track. At the end of the session, the LCD display shows you the percentage of correct hits, bad timings, and complete misses. In this mode you can adjust the tempo, beat, rhythm, voice, and volume. You can also adjust the length of the bar and how long the tempo track drops out for. Feeling brave? There’s even a random mode for added fun and more difficulty.
Whether you're an intermediate or advanced player, we all need practice - and the DD700 makes it easier than ever to improve your skills!
