The Marshall DSL20CR is a great middle-of-the-road amplifier. It has a range of volume levels that can cover both gigs and home use, while the versatile 2 channel operation lets you dial in a range of sounds for both live performance and for studio use. The DSL20CR is capable enough that you can use it for practice at home and then take those same tones to the gig to keep up with your band. It delivers real Marshall EL34 valve tone and a raft of professional features.
The Marshall DSL20CR has 2 channels, each with independent level and gain controls. This means you can set each channel to the perfect amount of saturation and seamlessly switch between them with a footswitch. In the same amplifier you can get crystal clean sounds, vintage edge-of-breakup tone, and full-on saturation for the heaviest music and smoothest of solos. This gives it the versatility to cover a wide range of musical styles.
The channels share a 3-band EQ (improved for 2018) and independent presence and resonance control to perfectly match your guitar tonality and room ambience. A reverb circuit is also included to allow access to a sympathetic ambient sound for your tone.
The DSL20CR has high and low power settings. This means you can get a lower volume level with no reduction in valve tone. Marshall has optimised the power mode to reshape the power at the lower setting, rather than following the traditional amplifier design of removing a valve from the signal at lower power settings. This means you have a truly optimised sound for home practice, and you sacrifice none of the valve saturation and compression. The amplifier drives a 12'' Celestion Seventy-80 speaker for a wide frequency response and great projection on stage.
Marshall's partnership with software developers Softube has led to the DSL range being equipped with Softube emulation technology. This gives you a direct connection to the amplifier, which sends out the sound of a professionally mic'd Marshall 1960 cabinet. This signal can be used to send your tone directly to a mixing desk for a no-fuss and consistently great sound to use at a gig. The Softube output also makes recording a simple-task, when you can be guaranteed of a fantastic cabinet sound without having to worry about microphone placement and room acoustics.
The DSL20CR's range of features make it the ideal amplifier for both practice, rehearsals, gigs, studio use, and for home recording. In all applications, the DSL20 will deliver a quality Marshall valve tone, inspiring you to make music.
