This huge presence has allowed him to explore varied and unique musical instruments, as well as creative takes on popular genres (Banjo metal, anyone?). The electric guitar and heavier music has always been his primary interest, however. Diamond in the rough
It’s time to rock. Always keen to evoke a wide range of ripping tones, Schecter have blessed the Scallon custom model with a set of custom voiced passive pickups. Don’t be fooled by their aggressive humbucker appearance, this sizzling set is quite capable of generating a whole heap of tones – from the ferocious to the finessed.
Starting with a neck pickup that hums with PAF like warmth, you can evoke some classic crunch and modern bite all on the same position. Moving over to the bridge, which is known as the “Special Rob Scallon” pickup, you’ve got the massive amounts of output and the sonic cut required to make metal music come alive.
While both pickups contain plenty of headroom for aggressive, energetic styles, their best feature is their versatility. Switch over to a clean channel to enjoy pristine, articulate cleans that affords you more options during playing. Even better, they can both be coil split with a simple push/pull tone knob to instantly thin out the sound.
Riff like you’ve always wanted
Get ready with your favourite lead lines. Because this Rob Scallon C-1 is equipped with a fretboard and neck that’ll make the most complex chords and tricky licks a breeze. Starting with a luscious and beautifully dark ebony fingerboard, your fingers will simply glide across this slick surface. It’s incredibly responsive and rich in its tonal character, so you’ll love hammering out riffs at top speeds as you’ll feel no resistance when navigating the board. Together with 24 jumbo sized frets, extreme string bends and a comfortable action complete the lightning-fast playability package.
As if that wasn’t enough, Schecter and Scallon have provided playing bliss through the a “C” shaped three-piece mahogany neck. It’s made for modern, quick playing with carefully designed curves that complement fast position changes. Not only that but it’s carved for ultra-access to those high frets, meaning you’re unhindered whatever you’re playing.
The neck-through design adds even more to this, as it was specifically requested by Scallon. It awards tremendous stability and rich resonance into your notes, letting more vibrations flow into the pickups for maximum tone. Not to mention that this neck it tough, it’s three-piece construction means that bowing, bending and warping won’t bother the C-1.
Hardware to rely on
Play it all night. There’s nothing worse than a set that gets derailed because your guitar’s tuning has slipped, and the C-1 Rob Scallon knows that. To that end, it’s equipped with both Hipshot Grip-Lock tuners and a Hipshot hardtail bridge to ensure total tuning stability. Those tuners pin down your string in a vice grip and make string changes effortless, while the bridge allows for fully adjustable intonation and clear string vibrations. This is the gear to raise your game.
