Key Features
Bastl Instruments Pizza is a complex digital oscillator that combines FM synthesis with advanced waveshaping, opening a whole new world of unique tonal flavours. The hybrid-style design is centered around three internal oscillators comprised of the main oscillator, octave oscillator and ratio oscillator. Each oscillator features its own unique sound shaping capabilities and a range of modulation options.

Welcome to the world of hybrid synthesis. Combining FM synthesis with advanced wave-shaping allows you to tap into a whole new sonic palette. Fusing elements of attractive and subtractive synthesis; the Bastl Pizza brings the best of both worlds, with waveshaping available on the main output. The trifecta of oscillators allows for deep and complex sound design capabilities, with each oscillator boasting unique capabilities and parameters unique to them.
The main oscillator can be phase modulated and wave folded. The two modulating oscillators come in the form of the Octave (sub) oscillator and a Ratio oscillator. The Octave oscillator features a dedicated output, with both oscillators providing advanced FM capabilities. Each of the modulating oscillators features square-sine-saw wave shape control and can also be used to ring-modulate the main oscillator. An FM index crossfader provides the ability to phase modulate the main oscillator with either modulating oscillator, but this can also be replaced by an external signal for added flexibility.
The intuitive interface features a range of controls including a large pitch potentiometer for switching between octaves or detuning your sound. You can also shape your sound further using the ‘Shape’ section. An FMX index crossfader is also included allowing you to blend between the Ratio/Octave oscillators. The Pizza module is digital-based, meaning you don’t need to tune your module, ever!
There is a ‘Tune’ mode that allows you to fine-tune your sound and adjust semitone transposition. Assignable controls come in the form of the CTRL knob and a CV input, providing deeper access to the core of the oscillator. The assignable controls can be used for a wide variety of parameters including linear FM, exponential FM (global, Octave, or Ratio osc.), octave, detune, modulator ratio selection, wave-shaping, wave-folding, ring modulation, or built-in bipolar VCA.
Nine patch points in total are included such as the EXT input which allows direct phase modulation of the main oscillator. A V/OCT input can be calibrated to match correctly with any source. Pizza also has a micro USB connection so you can update firmware from your computer and keep up to date with the latest releases.
