Granular processing is used to create glitchy textures, loops and stretching sounds using its unique processing method that allows you to create everything from granular clouds to microsound phases. Great for EDM, hip-hop and DnB; the 2hp Grain features a streamlined design with straight-forward controls for easy granular processing. Perfect for sound designers, this module allows you to create unique timbres and can be used on a variety of sound sources including drums, vocals and even foley sounds. The audio input acts as the main sound source, allowing you to incorporate synth voices, samplers and everything in between.
The module can be used to create everything from tremolo-style effects on instrumentation to out-of-this-world glitchy FX. The streamlined design features three main controls: Density, Mix and Frequency. The density control sets the rate of granulisation applied to the input signal, allowing you to set how often the grains are generated periodically. Turning the 'Density' knob to the left will increase the speed of generated grains, whereas turning the knob right will generate the grains stochastically – increasing the speed the further the knob is turned.
The 'Mix' knob controls the wet/dry signal being sent to the output. When turned far to the left, only the dry signal will be heard; whereas turning it all the way to the right will make only the granular signal be heard. The 'Frequency' control adjusts the amount of pitch shifting applied to the grains being generated. Turning the knob to the left will pitch shift the grains downwards (up to four octaves) and turning it to the right will pitch shift the grains upwards (up to four octaves).
