Authentic vintage tone
Presented in a sleek and intuitive user interface, Mellotron V offers the same look as the original with some added features and deep FX power just a click away. Furthermore, you can expect an authentic sound and workflow with some modern enhancements. Mellotron captures the unique attack phase of the play head connecting with the tape to produce a soft transient that’s synonymous with vintage hardware. Choose between one of the three sounds loaded onto the original tape disk or select a blend of all three to create a sound which wouldn’t be possible on the hardware original Tune Mellotron V for any context, moreover, a Tone control applies the same EQ curve as on the original, and you can simulate tape speed with the pitch knob.
When it comes to expanding the limits of the orignial Mellotron, Arutria has covered all bases while remaining faithful to the original hardware. Expand Mellotron's sonic palette with four effects slots and 13 essential pedals including chorus, flanger, compressor, phaser, delay, distortion, equaliser, reverb, stereo pan, analog delay, limiter, and tape echo. Furthermore, set Mellotron V into authentic acoustic spaces with a state-of-the-art convolution plugin, and colour the sound by running it through an emulation of either a rotary speaker or twin amp.
Advanced panel
In addition to all this, Arturia has included an advanced panel to define characters, manage and edit samples, and more. Get surgical with independent envelopes for each of the three tapes, each envelope lets you shape volume over time with synth-like precision for sharper attacks and longer tails than the original. Amp up the lo-fi grit of the Mellotron V, as well as the loudness of its signature mechanical noises. Furthermore, add a dynamic dimension to your tapes with velocity sensitivity and bring in tape flutter with aftertouch to capture authentic vintage dynamics. Crossfade up to three virtual tapes across the keyboard for dynamic ensemble-style playing that brings depth and nuance to your performance. Edit, trim, loop, mix, and pan samples in an integrated editor that gives you more control over your sounds than ever.
Powered by technology
Using proprietary modelling algorithms, Mellotron V is able to recreate the iconic instruments down to the component parts to create unrivalled realism and immersion. Unmatched in analog emulation, Mellotron V is powered by TAE and Phi technologies. TAE offers component-level modelling to accurately present the characteristics and behaviour of the instrument, whilst Phi's state-of-the-art physical modelling brings the acoustic properties into the virtual world for hyper-realism. The result is truly a next-level sound that is indistinguishable from the original to add to your productions.
Reviews
"We have used a real M400 in the studio quite a few times and I really got used to how it sounds, this plugin is so spot on I can hardly tell the difference at all! The mandolins are an absolute must to elevate a chorus!" - Jade Bird (DJ/Producer)
"The Mellotron V is a wonky tape dream. Being able to add more character to the sound puts this ahead of other Mellotron emulations and gives some very old sounds a fresh perspective." - Tom Furse (The Horros)
