Six unique applications in one convenient plug-in
Taken from the legendary Sony digital mixing console, the Oxford Dynamics processors are steeped in tradition and heritage. Designed using proprietary 'lookahead' technology and logarithmic side-chain processing, the Oxford Dynamics processor anticipates signal peaks before they occur, delivering a tremendous amount of accuracy and transparency without sacrificing musicality.
Comprised of six independent sections, each with optimised performance, controls and most importantly, sound, the Sonnox Oxford Dynamics processor gives you flexible control over a wide range of functions and parameters. Gate, expander, compressor, limiter, side-chain EQ and warmth are all presented in the same configuration they were implemented to the original hardware console counterpart. Each processor is activated using the 'Access' control, altering the display with the appropriate controls for the particular processor.
The complete studio dynamics processor
Simple to use and immaculate sounding, the Oxford Dynamics processor is stable and predictable to take on virtually any instrument, group, bus or stereo mix thrown at it. Transparent compression and dynamics processing is made easy, though it can be driven to the limit to coax more pumping and aggression to your tonal character. Across four internal processors you are presented with dedicated attack and release times, ensuring that no matter what signal you are running through, you can match the envelope to create the most accurate processing possible. These controls can also be used to mimic the response of other famed hardware compressors.
With three modes, the Compressor includes three unique modes. Normal, Classic and Linear modes all feature customised responses to help discover the most optimised performance for your sound source. Normal is kind to transients whereas Classic removes the use of the Attack and Release parameters, likening the sound to a classic fixed nominal hardware such as the classic 160-style compressor.
A highly functional Gate and Expander do exactly as you'd expect. Musical envelopes offer a realistic and natural decay or attack to your signal with no unwanted jittering between exceeded thresholds and signal levels.
Much like the compressor, the Limiter uses lookahead algorithms to anticipate oncoming peaks, enabling you to be more aggressive with your settings without worrying about overshoots. With enough range to be used as a simple stopper or as an effect within its own right, the limiter is ideal for use on full mixes and instrument groups. Both the limiter and compressor sections can be used in tandem with the Warmth control, a smooth and easy way to make your sound bigger and warmer without altering the levels. By increasing the density of higher sample values, much like the Inflator plug-in, the Warmth control provides a -6dB soft-clip zone to maintain headroom even under aggressive settings.
